McLeans Forest, Trip #17

We had another trip to McLeans Forest – see here for our previous report. As well as forest there are areas of dry grassland at the site, which have interesting assemblages of lichens, mosses and other small plants.

A very diverse patch of ground – we photographed most of these species separately as well, see further down.

Animals

In some rotting tree trunks there was a longhorn beetle and some millipedes.

Under a piece of bark was this creature – some kind of arthropod?

This wolf spider was on a gravel pile in a clearing at the site.

We also found an earthworm, in amongst some moss.
